It is obviously a teen drama because the characters are in relationships in high school also there is teen drama within the girls parents being over protective mother. for example april and ram, they are in a loving relationship.
and the narrative features issues such as the black mother being strict for the girl talking to boys.
It is obviously science fiction genre because there are props such as the alien monster and getting out of reality such as alien weapons metal robots.
There are settings such as alien worlds shadow worlds and high school.
There are characters such as Corakinus who is an evil shadow monster .

the equilibrium is quite calm and peaceful. April and Ram both skips lessons as April is stressed. He then takes April back home as she need to be calmed down.

April had a breakdown in classroom. The music in the back round had built up the tension and also showing the closer camera angle zooming into her face to show her emotions and facial expressions , showing the audience how she is feeling at that very moment.
When April had hurt her mother , nobody actually knew what had happened nor what she was doing, later she transformed herself into the other dimension of the shadow kin.

Aprils mother is paralysed , however is really strong because in the episode when the father was approaching April to see if she was okay Aprils mother had said that she will 'kill' Aprils father if she had come near her. This clearly shows that she is a powerful character and that she is not afraid of protecting her daughter.
However , stereotypes may also be reinforced as April had used her powers to ' heal ' her mother from the disability, this implies that the media is trying to make disabled people look more vulnerable and making Aprils mother look for 'normal' .
