 01.1 -  What is Intertextuality ? Intertextuality is when one media text refers to another media text . DOCTOR WHO NOTES.  culturally - in the cast the characters were all British white. not culturally diverse. Susan Ian Barbara all white. reflected on 1960s Britain. Women were seen as 'crazy' or 'weak' all men were smart and knew what they were doing . girls gossiping.   Susan is subversive as she does not know what how many shillings their were in a pound however knew the future and knew a whole lot of other things that were not on her level of age as a teenager. However normal as she is listening to pop music but weirdly dancing. not a normal teenager because other girls are into hair , makeup , gossip but she is into books and not a typical teenager . socially awkward because she is unearthly. historically - the space race competing to land on the moon sci - fi TV show = TARDIS (time travel) socially - Susan subverts the stereotypes of a typical female teenager as she is intelligent and knowledgeable .
